NetEnt’s EggOMatic is right up there with a select number of slot games that are purely madcap, as well as first class. The developers have chucked the rule book out of the window, (just watch the pre-game trailer to see the crackers game concept), and decided to go one better than the competition, creating a game that is all about a crazy chicken egg factory where a special robotic “EggOMatic” machine is trying to “up” the number of eggs produced by making metal ones! Ouch!
This crazy contraption makes different metal eggs which add four different bonus elements to the reels- watch out for the surprise egg! This is a world away from games like Berryburst and Starburst – which just goes to show the breath of games under the Swedish designers’ umbrella.
Look and feel
This game looks like a movie thanks to its outstanding graphics which are good enough to eat- they are certainly up there with the likes of the Champion’s Goal slot machine and Asgardian Stones (another Netent game). You are running the EggOMatic machine and so the game has the look of a robotic factory, literally stacked with kooky looking chickens. Think of the Robocop slot machine and then add in a bunch of chooks and you are almost there.
At the bottom of the screen is the usual info on your bets, wins and so on but this is all encased in metal factory fittings- you are running this egg business after all!
The reels themselves are made up of a metal frame full of the all-important birds themselves. On the right is the bulging metal EggOMatic machine which cranks into action, popping out different eggs on top of the reels and onto a conveyor belt, which given the right signal drop down into play. It’s a completely crazy but funny scene.
The background sound is all mechanical clunks and crashes with chicken clucks added for good measure!
The “eggcentric” slot is a 3 rows, 5 reel and 20 pay-line bonanza. That’s pretty standard fare like the Flame slot machine, but that’s where we leave normality as far as this game goes.
The high value icons are a cast of cartoony chickens with the lower value icons being a set of metal chicks in brown, blue, green, pink and red. Watch out for the Wild – a great big blue rooster!
There is no bonus element but when the EggOMatic makes an egg, it comes in one of four kinds, Spreading Wilds, Free Spin, Coin Win and Surprise egg-effectively creating the bonus action.
Where a Wild rooster shows up on a reel, the EggOMatic egg rolls along the conveyor belt at the top of the reels and drops into the rooster’s wings and that prize egg is yours!
The Spreading egg gifts you with the magical touch of turning surrounding icons (diagonal and adjacent) into Wilds to make you more chances of earning an “eggcellent” win.
The Free Spin egg will do what it says on the shell, award you a random number of spins starting with a reasonable 7 but potentially reaching a feather-shaking 50 free spins. And you can even win more spin during this mode! What a generous robot!
When you get a Coin Win egg, your win will reflect your stake but our generous feathered friend can give you between 50 and a pecking good 2500 coins!
And last, but not least, there’s the Surprise egg which randomly gives one of the above egg prizes.
EggOMatic is an adventure into an eggy-world of wonder, with great looks and enough elements with the generous egg-related bonus fun to keep me coming back for more. An “eggcellent” way to take a spin on a slot that rearranges your mind and your funny bone. Great fun.
