God of Storms

Playtech’s God of Storms is a member of the epic Age of the Gods series of slot games, which stars those vicious, vengeful and all too human gods of ancient Greece. Playtech are the designers behind the Gaelic Luck slot machine and Furious Four (another Age of the Gods title) so we were expecting big things from this game.

The divine one at the centre of the fun in this game is Aeolus, the Keeper of the Winds.

Let’s see if we can build some divine winnings and see what this big guy is up to shall we? Time to take on the wrath of the wind!

Look and Feel

The Age of the God series is right up there when it comes to high-end graphics. The setting of the game is an idyllic sunset over the rooftops of an Ancient Greek city- probably Athens by the look of it. The reels are set in marble splendour, like a piece of ancient art. We love a classically designed game like the Age of Egypt slot and the God of Storms fits snugly into this category.

The background sounds to your spins are the twitterings of birds, the sea, the occasional fanfare and electronic beeps.

Game Play

God of Storms is a 3 rows, 5 reel and 25 pay-lines trip into the ancient myths: a Playtech classic (you know, those people behind the Dirty Dancing slot, except this one is set in the Ancient World).

The high value icons of play are: a gritty-looking helmet-wearing warrior, a sword-toting woman in armour, and an archer in blue. There are also a couple of Greek favourites such as the Greek vase and a sea-churning monster. The lower value icons are the Ace through 10 in ancient golden letters.

Not scared of mixing things up, Playtech have created two different Wilds to spice things up a bit.

There is a Greek ship Wild and then the word “Wild” carved out of marble- (these icons only appear on reels 2,3 and 4 but they do sub for all other icons). The great news is that all the Wilds come stacked. A gift from the gods!

The big rewards are triggered by landing a stacked ship Wild on a reel which will trigger the main event, the Wild Wind Respins where you get a free spin. After the spin the big man, Aeolus, the Keeper of the Winds, turns up on the right of the reels literally blowing the stacked Wild ship one reel position to the left and increasing the multiplier as it goes: initially x2, then x3 and then a divinely generous x5.

Just keep landing the ship stacked Wild and the sky is the limit!

Pros and Cons

  • 2 Different Wild Symbols
  • All the Wilds are Stacked
  • The Age of the Gods Progressive Jackpot
  • No Free Spins Bonus, the Wild Wind Respins is the Feature

God of Storms Slot Jackpot

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is gos.png

As with its sibling slots, God of Storms, shares a big progressive jackpot with the other Age of the Gods games. There are four prizes up for grabs for the player who can call on the favour of the gods- the Power, Extra Power, Super Power and Ultimate Power jackpots which are won at random, but bigger bets increase your chances of triggering the jackpots.

If the gods smile on you, you will be in line for one mighty treats. If you’re in with a chance you will be presented with a grid of 20 ancient coins, and you’re aiming to click and reveal 3 matching jackpot symbols to hit the big time- as you’d expect it’s the Ultimate Power that is where the serious money lies!

Conclusion

As with the Age of the Gods series, God of Storms is a solid addition but it isn’t as full of extras as some of the other games in the series. However the potential to land the generous Wilds gives this game a boost in terms of its winning potential. And of course there’s always that divine progressive jackpot just waiting to be won…
