The Esqueleto Explosivo slot from Thunderkick is one of our favourite games of all time. It’s insane! It’s a 5 reel slot with 17 fixed pay-lines that doesn’t look much like any other 5 reelers we have played, but the that’s Thunderkick for you. They like to mix things up a bit!
Día de Muertos
The action centres around the Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos as it’s known in Mexico. This fiesta is celebrated all around Mexico where people pray for and celebrate the lives of their loved ones who have died, to help them on their spiritual journey.
It all kicks off on October 31, November 1 and November 2- so the same time as : All Saints’ Eve, All Saints’ Day, and All Souls’ Day. The graphics are right up there with the HK Tower slot– simply superb!
Now if that seems like a weird theme to base a slot on, you’d be right, but once you fire this game up you won’t be able to stop smiling at the music, the exploding skeletons, and the singing. It’s a real celebration, which is what the Day of the Dead is all about, despite it’s name!
How Do You Play the Slot?
Fire up the slot and 3 rows of 5 colourful skulls load up all holding various musical instruments and with fire crackers going off left, right and centre (the dogs in the background don’t seem to be enjoying those!) This game is more vibrant than the Fate Sisters slot machine, and that’s going some.
Hit spin, and the skulls disappear, and new ones drop into place (they call this Dropping Symbols). If you line up a win, the dudes will sing “guitarra”, or something else in their best Mariachi tenors, and the winning symbols will explode. This gives you a second chance of a win- it’s like the Avalanche feature in Gonzo’s Quest. Plus, everytime you get one of these free drop ins you go up one place on the multiplier trail from x1 to x2 to x4 to x8 to ox16 annd even to x32! This is of course known as the Mucho Multiplier.
Ww love the sounds on the Esqueleto Explosivo slot- as well as all the cool background noises, you’ve got that bone on bone sound as the skeleton heads drop down. It sounds ghoulish, I know, but it’s not!
The symbols come in all shapes and sizes. There’s a skeleton dude with Aviators on, one with a nice looking moustache, and a nice green lass (or what’s left of her) with a flower tucked into her cranium.
The dude with the Aviators on is one symbol to look out for as he is the Explosivo Wild Symbol. He stands in for other symbols and then lets out a rock ‘n roll scream and explodes the 8 closest skulls for a new win chance and a notch up on the multiplier trail.
The pink skull with the rose through it’s teeth is the highest paying symbol, followed by the green lady with the flower in her skull, the blue moustachioed man, then the orange skull and finally the light blue one.
There are 17 pay-lines in the game.
You have probably guessed that we love this game, the graphics are amazing- better than Goldwyn’s Fairies even- once you have played it, you’ll find it hard to go back to a traditional 3 reel fruit machine, that’s for sure. The visuals and sound effects are amazing- if you manage too get a big win, all hell breaks loose with fireworks and trumpets going off everywhere.
Play it on you mobile, tablet, PC or Mac- it looks great on all screen sizes.
