When you fire this game up, you will immediately recognise the music, and before you know it, you’ll be wearing your underpants outside of your trousers and wearing a cape. It’s all based on the 1980 DC Comics blockbuster movie: Superman II and was designed by Playtech- those people behind the Gladiator slot
and the Batman & Batgirl slot among others.
When you get into this game and start triggering a few of the bonus rounds, you’ll quickly realise that there are a lot of them! It’s also linked into the DC Super Heroes jackpot which is the progressive network that Playtech launched when they discontinued all of their Marvel games like the Hulk slot and started up with DC Comics slots like the Batman slot and this Superman slot. Well, first of all the launched the Age of the Gods slot and its cousins (King of Olympus, Furious Four etc), and then the DC Comic games.
Let’s take a run through some of the features on this 25 fixed pay-line game shall we?, (the same number of lines as the Fate Sisters slot by the way. Pay-line wins are multiplied by the line bet and combinations pay left to right- all pretty standard on that front. On the symbols, Superman (a cartoon Christopher Reeve) is your high paying symbol (5 on an activated pay-line will net you 1000x your line bet), followed by the Superman logo, Lois Lane, General Zod, the other baddies (Ursa and Non if memory serves me correctly), Kent Clark’s specs and a slice of Kryptonite and your usual playing card symbols: A, K, Q, J.
Superman Wild Feature
We all know that Superman can fly (as long as there is no Kryptonite around)- you might see him flying around the main game turning 2, 3 or 4 symbols into wilds which are the Superman logo- you know the big “S”.
And don’t worry if your Wild Symbol covers a bonus symbol- you can still trigger it with the bonus symbol underneath the “S”.
Daily Planet Headline Bonus
Look out for the Daily Planet logo on reels 1, 3 and 5 as that will trigger the Daily Planet Headline Bonus. Hit the STOP button to reveal your feature- we list them below.
Battle for Metropolis
In this game you’ll be slugging it out with the baddies: General Zod, Ursa & Nun). You need to pick a shield which will reveal a cash prize, a special prize or a collect symbol (the last one means the end of the bonus). If you get the green crystal (you know the one Superman finds up in the North Pole) you can save it to cancel the next COLLECT and continue the bonus. The X-RAY Vision symbol reveals all of the symbols in one go and you get the top prize. Nice!
This means unlimited (in theory) free games! Every time you spin, you’ll see a 2×2 block on the reels which is the Phantom Zone. These act as expanded wilds and there’s also a Superhero reel at the bottom that will award more goodies: a x2 multiplier, a x3 multiplier, a Supeman logo which cancels the stop button and a stop symbol which ends the game.
This was one of my favourite bits of the film and it makes a nice bonus on the Superman II slot as well.
You are looking for a flying Superman or General Zod on reel 3 which will trigger 10 free spins. Initially the multiplier is on x1, but if a flying Superman appears on reel 3, the free games counter stops ticking down and you are into unlimited free games. We love it! Then is any more Supermans land on reel 3 when the counter is frozen, your multiplier nudges up to a maximum of x5.
If General Zod appears on reel 3 (Boo!), the villains will reset the multiplier back to x1 and set the counter ticking down again. Villains!
You are looking doe an X-Ray Vision symbol on reel 3 for this to kick in. This gets you 15 free games, then another X-Ray symbol on the middle reel becomes a wild (the Superman symbol). It will also add a wild on the adjacent reels: 2 & 4.
Lois and Clark Bonus
This is another Pick ‘n Click game. You need to keep picking the Superman shield until you have 5 of the same colour. Level 1 is red- if you get 5 that gets you 2500 coins, Level 2 (blue) gets you 1250, Level 3 (yellow) gives you 750 and Level 4 (pink) 500.
DC Super Heroes Jackpot
As we mentioned earlier, the Superman 2 slot is linked into the DC Super Heroes jackpot. You can win one of 4 progressive jackpots: The Grand, the Major, the Minor and the Mini.
Any of the 4 jackpots can be bagged on any spin- the Grand is the one you want! It’s all awarded at random, but the higher your bet, the bigger your odds. To win the jackpot, you’ll have to play the Jackpot Game that has 20 Jackpot icons in it. You need to pick and click and fill up the corresponding areas on the different jackpots. The Grand is red with 5 spots to fill, the Major is yellow with 4, the Minor blue with 3 and the Mini green with 2.
This game has more features that Superman has special powers- it’s stuffed full of them. Now, this can take a while to get your head around, but you definitely won’t get tired of this game in a hurry!
