Monty Python’s Spamalot Slot Machine
Monty Python’s Spamalot Slot Machine
If you are someone who loves a slot with a difference, a big surreal difference, then Monty Python’s Spamalot Slot Machine might just tickle your funny bone and deliver you a stack of cash too.
There are a lot of funny things to get you giggling out there, but there is a special place enshrined in laugh-out-loud silliness for the team that are the brains behind the comedy genius of Monty Python.
At last the work of the famed surreal comedy collective has gone one better than producing a slew of hit TV shows, films and the hit global musical, by dreaming up the Spamalot Slot Machine.
If you are a fan of Monty Python, you’ll love the Spamalot Slot Machine. If you’re not, or you don’t know who Monty Python is, then it’s not going to make a lot of sense. This Playtech slot is, errrr, very silly (well it is a Spam Slot, as in the luncheon meat, not the unsolicited email).
The brain boxes at Playtech are very good at movie themed slots (like the Gladiator Slot Machine) and there’s the cartoon themes like Monty Python (also a movie of course). One of our favourites; try the Top Gun slot for another of their Hollywood movie themed slots.
Look and feel
Based on the Spamalot musical comedy which in turn was inspired by Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a movie so off the wall that the script contained the line “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!”, this is a surreal slot experience.
The graphics are top of the line with all the madcap styling that is the signature look of Monty Python and a vital element that places this game firmly in the category of comedy slot games.
The background of play is a hilly scene with trees with the sun setting in the background in animated style. If you look carefully you’ll see the sign posts directing you to Camelot. This is a cartoony looking slot (like the Pink Panther Slot– another Playtech classic).
The music can get a bit too much, (but then again you can always turn it off). It’s one of our favourite slot games, but then we are big Monty Python fans.
The Full Monty Python Slot Run Down- Game play
Monty Python’s Spamalot is a 5 reel, 3 rows and 30 pay line progressive slot which promises a lot of silly, money making fun.
This game is packed with five bonus features and that’s before you even get to the two progressive jackpots!
Just a quick tip, you’ll need to wait for this game to load, don’t click the close down “X”! N.B. Click and change the coin size to the minimum (1 penny, $0.01) if you want a long go on the game.
You can play Spamalot in a number of different of coin sizes (from 0.01 to 1.00). The max bet is 20 coins so you can get bet from 0.20 a spin or go all out at 20.00 a go. The more you bet the more chance you have at winning the progressives.
There are six of the movie characters who make up the coterie of high value icons and they are all photos from the movie itself. These include King Arthur (land 5 of him and win 1000 coins), Sir Lancelot (there 800 coins for you if you land 5) Sir Galahad (5 of him gift you 600 coins) Sir Belvedere (5 make you 500 coins), Sir Robin (5 of this chap award you 400 coins) and Patsy! (5 of these are worth 300 coins). The lower value icons are the Ace through Jack of the card deck in
illuminated medieval writing. Tally ho!
The slot’s Wild is the The Holy Grail icon and subs for all icons except for the shield Scatter Bonus. There is also another Wild, The Holy Grail icon which only lands on reel 5 and can bring additional Wilds with it when it moves across the reels.
The Scatter only lands on reels 1, 3 and 5 and if you manage this knightly feat then you will trigger the Quest of Camelot free games feature.
The Wild is worth landing with 5 on an active line getting you the top line win of 5,000 coins. The next best line win also drops in with the wilds with 4 lined up left to right netting you 1,500 coins.
On the first and last reels are Bonus Cloud symbols which trigger all 4 Acts in the bonus stage features. Every time you land a Bonus symbol on reels 1 and 5 you get one of the 4 bonus games.
The bonus games are:
Storm the Castle
This is an anarchic picking game where you choose one from 6 spots in a field and then watch the French Knights chuck a cow at you. If they miss you, you get a prize and get to pick a gain. If they hit you, unsurprisingly it’s all over.
None Shall Pass
The crazy brave knight blocks your way and you get 4 goes to defeat him. Each successful hit takes off a limb (“it’s only a flesh wound!”) and you get a prize which is inflated by the current multiplier (up to x5). If you miss, the multiplier reduces by x1. The bonus finishes after four attacks and any prizes are paid up.
The Knights Who Say Ni
The Knights Who Say Ni clamour for shrubbery and you get up to 3 chances to ferret out the best shrubs on the second stage. You can try and win again but you cannot head back: the next prize could be lower.
The Killer Rabbit
6 knights must find their way past the killer rabbit. Choose a rock under which you think the rabbit is hiding. If you pick correctly, the remaining knights pass and you get a bonus prize. Pick one of the wrong rocks and one of your knight gets killed by the rabbit. Yikes!
If this isn’t enough, you can win more free spins and a progressive jackpot. To bag the free games you need to land 3 or more Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5.
This arrangement of Scatters triggers a game where you pick from a wall of shields which can award further free spins and modifiers.
This gets you 10 free spins with random wilds and a chance to bag the Holy Grail Bonus. 5 Scatters lands you x250 your bet or 5,000 coins!
You will trigger The Castle of the Britons modifiers, The Cave of Caerbannog modifiers or The Forest of Bravery modifiers- each set offers 4 different side options!
The Castle of Britons offers the following modifiers:
The Trojan Rabbit is a side game where a stacked Wild crops up on your reels.
The French Invaders are strangely welcome as they bring Wilds to the reels on each spin.
The French Catapult awards a random Wild on each free game.
Or there’s the memorably titled Nuns of Castle Anthrax to play! Here a Wild is added on each freebie spin and these keep on coming until the spins are used up.
The Cave Of Caerbannog modifiers are as follows:
The Killer Rabbit involves up to a mega 5 sticky Wilds being lured to your reels and hang about until the end of the feature.
Tim’s Wilds gifts you locked Wilds for the feature.
The Holy Hand Grenade (not your usual modifier title!) gives you a giant sized Wild which can be up to 3×3 big on a freebie spin.
And finally The Black Beast of Arrah! Now a bunch of stacked Wilds arrive on the reels and stay about for the rest of the feature.
The Forest Of Bravery modifiers are as follows:
The Knights Who Say Ni add a super generous portion of extra Wilds to the reels –a maximum of 7 can be added. Kerching.
The Black Knight allows reel 3, the middle reel to go totally Wild.
The Three-Headed Knight add 4 Wild to your reels creating a T shape during the feature.
And then there’s Brave Sir Robin who very kindly adds one stacked Wild to your spin. How gallant!
Monty Python’s Spamalot is pure entertainment in a slot machine that stays faithful to the movie throughout. Plus the progressive jackpot is huge: it starts off at $500,000- an impressive jackpot in anyone’s book.
Monty Python’s Spamalot is one of the best Playtech Slots out there for comedy fun and those game-enhancing Wilds seriously boost the winning power of this anarchic and very absorbing slot game. There is gold in this game for the intrepid Python fan or for the novice who simply wants to see what a crazed imagination and a talented slot making team can come up with together. It’s winning stuff.
